Bringing you Heavy Grinding Beats...Spinning House / Hard House / DnB for the masses.
A native of Seattle, HeavyGrinder currently resides in Los Angeles where she is a part time student, and full time DJ. At age thirteen, she began to actively pursue her love of music and being on center stage by taking up vocal training and modeling. After years of traveling and successful model work, she made her way to LA in 1998. It was in the City of Angels that she realized her new love, cozying up to the sounds of underground dance music, captivated by the power of the DJ and the reaction of the crowd.
A dream was born. Now HeavyGrinder is capturing the attention of audiences worldwide. Ibiza, China, Taiwan and Mexico have been key international stops for this talent so far. In the Los Angeles club scene alone, she has played more than twenty notable venues including Key Club, Highlands, Century Club, Avalon, Sunset Room and White Lotus. When she's not playing in her hometown, HG is regularly headlining events across the United States and has performed in cities from Anchorage to Washington D.C., and Atlanta back to Honolulu as well as dozens of cities in between.
As of recent, HeavyGrinder has been working on her own music production and has an upcoming release featuring the veteran vocal talents of SuSu Bobien on the well-respected house label, Soundmen on Wax; as well as a track on the Chicago imprint -Jackinthebox.
Whether it's a DJ performance, her new mix CD or her latest efforts in music production, HG continues to demonstrate why she has an ever-growing fan base and why she will continue to be a name to follow for many years to come.
Beauty and Beats that make your Heart Beat
"I appreciate the ability to hear and share music more than anything in this world" --Dj HeavyGrinder
As a professional DJ, what kinds of music do you usually spin? I spin House, Drum n Bass, Hard House. Growing up, you wanted to be a singer right? Can you tell me about that? When I was a little girl I wanted to be a singer. I use to imitate Mariah Carey. I loved her way of singing. This was up till I was 12. Then I found other things that I was interested in such as being a model etc. I wanted to be so many things. I could go about 12 different careers I wanted to pursue. :: laughs :: Which profession is more on priority to you? Modeling or being a DJ? Definitely DJing is my priority. Modeling is something that I've done all my life, and I continue to do every now and then but DJing is what I dedicate my time and effort to. Can you tell me about your shows across the nation? Last year, I've had the chance to drop my beats over in Hawaii, North Carolina, Atlanta, Minnesota, Ohio, Arizona, and other areas in California. I love traveling so being able to do that and do what I love (spin) is a great pleasure! What is your opinion on female DJ's? It's great to see that more female DJs are coming up! It is awesome that there are other females out there sharing their passion and love for music. Where are you from? I currently reside in Los Angeles, California. What inspires you and how do you incorporate that in your music? Self motivation is what inspires me. When i feel motivated it encourages me to share my passion for music with others whether im working on a new song or playing a dj set for an audience. What do you think about while you're spinning for a party? I think about pumping up the crowd and spreading a good vibe across the dance floor. What do you enjoy doing while you're not spinning? I like to work on music, go to the beach at night, go to arcades, read, and play video games. With being a DJ and touring the world what has been your most memorable experience you have had? There are too many memorable experiences to choose from, but i'd definitely have to say meeting all types of people who were drawn to my music and came out to see me, now that's very memorable each time. Do you think gogo dancers compliment your music? Craziest thing...everything shutting off. You travel a lot - how do you beat Jet Lag? I don't jet lag much which is a good thing. even if i do, i set my alarm and i force myself to wake up when i need to be up. Most inspirational - Piece of art - Album - book - and movie - you have ever experienced? Salvador Dali's Meditative Rose. Cradle of Filth Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids (black metal). Cold Zero by Christopher Whitcomb. Equilibrium by Kurt Wimmer. Who was your favorite dj when you started djing? When i started? It was Timo Maas. I would like to thank my fans and friends for continued support. Stay tuned for event info and free mixes on my website! |
